Christopher Wong's Grandparents
SECOND PLACE: Here's an old picture of my grandparents, stripers caught out of the bay, I think Vallejo.
Christopher Wong
Dick Serrano
THIRD PLACE: I was fishing on Lake Milakokia (a lake in upper Michigan) for perch that July 26, 1956 summer day and I was getting skunked. I switched to a gold spoon and the picture is the results. I lost a much bigger Northern pike than the one in the picture, it wrapped around the stringer of fish and snapped the line. WHAT A DAY THAT WAS. I was 16.

FreshwaterFrank
Honorable Mention: August 1974 -Lake 11,800 feet in J.Muir Wilderness. Found a postage-stamp lake & me & dad took 3 goldens in about an hour, using big silver & brass wobble-rites. 17" each & fat... quite a dinner that night around the Primus stove. Biggest goldens I've ever caught in the Sierra. This is our next day's catch and dinner.

Mark E. Field's Grandfather
Honorable Mention: My grandfather with a nice rainbow he caught while fishing at one of his favorite spots near Cottonwood Cove on Lake Mojave, Nevada. His fishing buddy, Heidi, a Weimaraner, is apparently not too enthused about it. This was taken in his 1960 Bellboy in the early 1970's...(before the striped bass started eating all the trout!)

Marvin Mecklenburg and Ervan Mecklenburg Jr.
Honorable Mention: Marvin Mecklenburg (My dad): 35 lb. striped bass and Ervan Mecklenburg Jr. (My late uncle) : 27 lb. striped bass. Caught November 27, 1954 on a foggy morning opposite the Delta Boat Harbor in the South Cove of Frank's Tract with a Mitchell spinning reel & Harnell rod on 12 lb. test line. Landing time = 1 hour and 5 minutes but well worth the effort.
