Braggin' Rights XIV

Hello, this is Gus Starid and Mike Coover with a 20lb Striped Bass and 40lb Sturgeon caught at the Mothball Fleet. The Sturgeon was taken on a combo eel/grass shrimp bait and the Striped Bass was caught on grass shrimp. Both fish were caught using light tackle (15lb test P-line). It was a rainy March day but a nice fishing day. Thanks, Michael A. Coover

Hi, My name is Corrie Engelbrecht. I subscribe to your newspaper and it is a delight to receive it every 2 weeks. I normally cannot wait for the next one to come. It is absolutely excellent. On Monday afternoon 2/4/02 my son Jan (age 7) and I caught a 4 pound trout that was 19 1/2 inches long at Horseshoe Lake here in Fremont. I caught it on a night crawler and marshmallow. I also caught another 2 of about one pound each. Regards, Corrie

Here's a photo of a 12-13 lb. wild steelhead caught (and released) on January 17 at the upper Smith River. Caught and released three other 10-11 pounders (all wild) while fishing the Chetco and the Smith. Great trip, great fishing! Mitch Walker, Redwood City, California

Here is my January 12th catch from Lake Pardee. This 'bow weighed in at just under 7lbs. I caught him trolling a Pheobe at 15ft using 6lb Maxima.

Hey guys, check out this nice male rainbow i took from the bank at New Melones. He went 4.8 pounds and was 23.5 inches long. On a crawler and 6lb test on 1-5-01. thanks, Peter Rudy

My 11 year old son, Daniel Swidrak, caught this salmon on 9/30/01 near Isleton while on fishing trip with his Dad, Richard. Dan was very happy with catch, and he worked very hard bringing it in! We are very proud of him! The salmon weighed in at 21 1/2 pounds, and is almost at big as he is! Thank you, Debbie Swidrak

Went fishing on saturday at lake pardee and trolled for 5 hours all over the lake. Ended up with 5 rainbows to 2 lbs. We used all kinds of lures but caught 4 out of 5 on a willow leaf Seps flashers with a nightcrawler trailer... the water color looked great and the crowds weren't to bad for opening weekend. fish on, Jerry

This is a picture of myself and two buddies who went Albacore fishing in August out of Morro Bay on the Ichibahn. We had a total of 6 fishermen, and we boated 21 fish. The fish were in the 25-30lb. range. We hit a window of somewhat decent weather, but still had 8-10 ft. swells. All in all, a good day. One of my buddies and I each boated three fish, and the other got two fish. Jay Blackmon, Bakersfield, CA.

First time salmon fisherman Pam Voight of Elk Grove caught this monster chinook October 8 with a jig on the Sacramento River near Garcia Bend. Now her lonely husband and three kids are left to wonder when "dinner's on" will again replace FISH ON! We can't get her off the river!

Howdy Fellow Fishsniffers! Check out my ten pounder...makes you want to throw it right onto the BBQ doesn't it? After several casts of my fly rod in the same hole I hooked this lunker. I fought it for at least 20 min. I was having the time of my life. I caught this darn fish out here in South Dakota. I love it out here. I love the open prairie, I can get in touch with nature out here and it also helps me fill the ole belly! Ahh South Dakota!! Greg James

This picture was taken at the Noyo Harbor in Fort Bragg on August 23rd last year. The seals in the background were dying for a taste of this one. Bernie Rolf of Boulder Creek, CA caught this 15 1/2 pound king salmon fishing four miles of the coast of Fort Bragg. He was trolling from his Uncle's boat using a freshwater downrigger rod & reel with 12lb test. We never miss an issue. Vince & Bernie Rolf

Deborah, I am a fan of your web site. You guys do a great job with constant, accurate fishing reports. Thank you. I thought you guys might enjoy this photo from a steelhead trip on the Eel a few week ago. The big fish went 35.5" long. We estimated it at 18.5 lbs. I thought I had my 20lber when I hooked it.
