Hi Fishsniffer, This is Ciera's first fish. We were fishing at New Melones celebrating her 4th birthday and she had her brand new Minnie Mouse fishing pole, which I re-spooled with 6lb sensithin trilene fishing line the night before. She was so excite, and happy, we almost could not get her to quit fishing. She also hooked a black bass. Anyway, now there is ANOTHER future Woman Angler in the State of California, look out, she's going for a new record in all species...John

Ciera's first fish

Yvonne Amparan
OK so this is very hard to do. I am sending in Yvonne's, my wife, catch out at New Melones this last spring. I was feeling really good about my 3 lb. new family record when she hooked on to this 5 pounder. Poof went the family record! Albert Amparan

Sanders Fishin Family
Hi Deborah, I'm not one to brag on my brother but, My father, my brother & I were fishing for Sand Dabs for bait with 10lb. test & size 6 hooks when my brother (Rick) hooked a 28lb. 44" Halibut in Fort Bragg CA. in Oct. Dad and I did get a couple of Ling Cod but it didn't shrink my brothers head. Yours Truly, Sanders Fishin Family

Just wanted to share this nice Dorado I caught off Mazatlan on Nov 29, 2002. My wife, Sandy, and I went out for a day of fishing on Victor Vargas's Panga. She caught the first one and then three more. We wound up with four each. The one in the photo was the largest & weighed just over 60 pounds. It was a great day and a great trip. The dorado were caught on Bali-hoo and live Bonito. Thank You, Gary Haltom
Don Hash's Jackpot Winner

I was on a 2 day Albacore trip aboard the Outer Limits out of Seaforth Landing this fall and I must say it was an outstanding trip. The captain & crew worked hard and the way they managed things smoothly through some wide open action was a pleasure to behold. And my albie was victorious as the jackpot winner! My thanks to the excellent crew and for the chance to go out and catch these beautiful tuna up to 40 lbs. Tight Lines, Don Hash.
Julita Galleguillos
My wife, Julita Galleguillos, and I got these this morning 11/24/2002 at San Luis Reservoir from 7:30 to 9:30. The bite's still hot, more than 50 boats over there by the trash rack.
Drew Barrett
Drew Barrett from Santa Cruz released this 40 pound salmon back into the wild after winning the half an hour tug of war on 10 pound test. Six other salmon were caught and released the same day ranging from 20-40 pounds. Proof that you don't need a boat to catch fish in the north coast rivers.
Jack Gertridge
Turned nine year-old, Jack Gertridge, was duck hunting early this November with his dad, grandfather and Uncle Doug, when during the afternoon he tied into this keeper using an anchovy from the duck club's dock on the Montezuma Slough. -- Jay Gertridge, Proud Dad

Isaac
I caught this one on the Sacramento River north of the Virgin Sturgeon. It was a long day for the four of us. We had a few hookups but none netted. It was getting late and we were making one last drift so we said. All of a sudden as I was jigging my line took off like a bolt of lightning, I went to set the hook and the line went slack. I looked at everyone and only said "MAN". I started to reel in the slack when it took off again in another direction, FISH WAS STILL ON. I was reeling like crazy and got it close to the front of the boat. My wife had the net, she saw it and said, "I think Orlando needs to net this one". I didn't know what she meant till Orlando was netting it and the pole bent. That is when I got a good look at it. I have a nice size salmon net but this was hanging out the top. Got it in the boat and quit for the day. Isaac

While fishing for Largemouth in the Delta, I hooked into this 7lb 11oz Striper, 1st cast. I was using a blue and white Rappala Shad Rap. Didn't get any Largemouth or any other bites the rest of the day, but this fish made it all worthwhile. Thanks. Scott Zehnder

Warren
Hello Deborah,
This is my son Warren. He is only 5 and already an avid fisherman. He caught this nice Caples Lake trout late in September on the reliable flasher/worm combo. I started to take him fishing when he was 3 and now that's all he wants to do on the weekends (Disneyland or Fairs excepted). Thanks for your publication! Brian

This is the KING I kept from this weeks fishing trip. The fish hit a lime green Gibbs Minnow at Millers Park. They have been hard to get in this year, they shake and flip in the air. There mouth is going a mile a minute and streaking around in the water like silver flashes. Any slack in the line and they are gone. They are the "New generation of Salmon". John Preston

My dad, in from Ohio, had never been sturgeon fishing in his life. So we headed for the Montezuma Slough, more specifically just before the Montezuma Slough Bridge. We were anchored around 6:45 am and settled in for an exciting day of sturgeon fishing. What better way for a father & son that don't get to spend much time together anymore? Well, down went my pole. After setting the hook twice, the fight was on, and what a fight we had. The line just kept going despite my tightening down the drag on my reel; however, finally, the sturgeon decided to slow down a bit. So I offered the pole to Dad so he could have some fun with this fish. From the pull, I knew we had a good size fish on. After getting his second wind, the fight was on again, away we went. After making a run past the boat, the sturgeon then headed straight back at us and directly for the anchor line. I yelled at Dad to dropped the anchor line and we would let this fish pull us for a while. After about an hour, I saw my weight come to the top of the water and told dad to get ready and ready he was. A perfect snare, just behind the gills. With a pull, about 3 feet of the fish came out of the water and the look on Dad's face was priceless. I was both happy and a bit upset, because I thought that after all of this, we were going to have to throw this monster back. However, after measuring it three times, we found that we had a keeper at 71 3/4 inches (no fudging either). What a day for a Dad & son! Kevin Yost
