After a day fly fishing the Delta with guide, Mike Costello of Pacific Adventures Outfitters, my husband and I are hooked deep on the sport. This big old gal was caught on January 19, 2003. She weighed in at 39 pounds and was caught on a white and brown fly my husband tied and on 20# tippet. After a quick weigh-in and pictures, she was released, unharmed. It was my only bite of the day, after watching my husband land fish after fish, most of the day. The fishing gods were definitely saving the best for last.

Cheryl Armstrong and her 39 pound Delta Striper

Trevor Bond
This is my son Trevor's first steelie. It was 31 and 1/2 inches in length, 17 inches in girth--no weight. Caught on the American River during the opening day weekend. Do you know of any good, inexpensive taxidermists who could recreate this fish from the photo? If so, feel free to reply. Love your Articles, keep up the excellent work. Thanks, Eric T. Bond
Isaac Bowen
This was caught on the Feather River a couple months back. It was caught fly fishing on 10lb maxima tippet. It weighed 61.5 pounds and was an unofficial world record until that 71.5 pounder was caught last month. Feel free to use it! Thanks, Isaac Bowen
Ken White
This nice 5.5 lb brown was caught at new melones, on a white j plug lure! Ken White

Vince from San
Jose
Deborah - This is my friend Vince from San Jose and a nice 15" rainbow he caught @ New Melones 1/18/03 up the river trolling a broken-back rebel. Thanks, Brad Green

Brenda Parfitt
Hello, My wife of thirty years and fishing partner for thirty two years, has caught more 50lb Kings and 25lb Coho than you can imagine. My daughter Amy has the luck of the Irish..her first King Salmon was 68lbs, again she has caught and released many more fish than many Guy fishermen would care to admit. The picture is my wife Brenda, this was the second fish of the day, right after this one we hooked and landed a ten foot White Sturgeon, unfortunately we couldn't get a photo, it was almost two in the morning before we landed it! Peace! Gord Parfitt
Nicholas Yee, right, and dad

Nicholas (10) caught these two keepers on the Delta on Jan. 18, 2003. The bigger striper weighed in at 21 lbs, 39 inches long and the other an 8 lber. We were fish with shiners and free swimming them on ABU 6500c. His dad (Kevin) was the net man on this trip. This is Nicholas BIGGEST fish ever. Great Job Son... Kevin Yee, Fremont, Ca.
Kylie Ures
The cold weather didn't stop Kylie Ures of Elk Grove from catching three nice rainbow trout while trolling Lake Camanche on January 20, 2002.
Mick Thomas
This is one of the two nice Mackinaw's I caught while fishing with staff writer Mark Wiza. Anyone wanting to fish the "Big Lake" should hire Mark first thing. Great guide, great guy, knows his stuff. For a low price I got a all day seminar on techniques and all around knowledge of how to catch fish at Tahoe. Mick Thomas
Flytier
Hi, I caught this 9lb Steelhead 20th January on the San Lorenzo River near Santa Cruz. This 29" fish grabbed a small fly (size 10 black bead-head Teeny nymph) that I drifted along the bottom and then it proceeded to give me hell for fishing a 6wt rod. The fish was promptly returned to the river after this picture was snapped. Best Regards, Flytier

Shane DeFreeuw
I caught this Olive Rockfish off the coast of Big Sur, casting off of some treacherous rocks with a glow squid. The bite got hot right after sunset. Had to hike up the cliffs in the dark! Well worth it though, although these fish have an ugly name and an ugly face, they are some of the tastiest of all fish fresh or saltwater. Fish On! Shane DeFreeuw, Monterey

John Elms
John Elms caught this 71" Sturgeon on a shad minnow up the San Joaquin River 3 miles east of Mossdale Crossing. We thought we had a big Striper until we got it up to the boat. We didn't know the sturgeon this big went this far upstream. Not bad for a $20.00 Walmart pole with 20lb. test, no net, no gaff and two really shaky fisherman.
Frank Perri
Frank Perri From Sacramento went Ice fishing on Prosser Res. on Jan 11 2003. He caught this 5 pound 25" German Brown at 10:05 with a mini crawler. All in his group of five limited out by 12:30. Jigging was really good too. Staying 25 from shore. The Ice is about 4" thick. All the fish were over 15" in length. Most were rainbows. A few Cutthroats. Picture taken by David Brillhart.
