Hello All,
Talk about beginners luck. I took my step-son Nick on his first Salmon fishing trip aboard the "Outlaw" out of Halfmoon Bay and what does he do???..... after a 35-45min fight on light tackle he catches a 48lb salmon with an anchovie on a rotary salmon killer @ 4 miles north of the Golden Gate. Special thanks to Garry & Captain Dale Walters of the Outlaw who made it all possible.

Hi,
I have been a lifetime avid fisherman and long time Fish Sniffer subscriber. My dream as probably most fishing dads is that my only son Brandon would enjoy fishing half as much as I do so we could have just another important bonding element in our life together.
Last week before dinner we ran up to a little pond in Loomis and decided to throw a few casts. We had never been there before and it had limited access so I didn't expect much. I set him up with a top water grasshopper and I threw a 8 " Senko. I hooked a little 7" bass and so my son decided to go back to the truck for a different offering. He came back with a blue flake 6" Senko that I tied on for him and told him it looked like a good choice.
His first cast immediately was nailed by a beautiful 4lb black bass that jumped 3 times and never got off. I was like the 10 year old kid when he caught it. The most importantly part for him was that he did it all by himself!

A group of us was at Eagle Lake enjoying the day and catching the Eagle
Lake Trout Thanksgiving w-end, and had this little helper, Jessica, to reel all
the fish in. Every fish that was hooked, she was right there to take the
pole over and fight the fish to the end. They are from the San Jose
area, and enjoyed the beauty of the lake and the fish.
Taken at Angle Island on brokenback Rapela...tasty tasty

This is an 18lb chromer we caught near Freeport on the Sacramento River in
August, 2002. It took a #4 bronze bladed, orange bodied, Blue Fox Vibrax
spinner doused in squid and sardine oil. While trying to land the fish from
shore, Trevor (pictured) and I barely got this big-shouldered chromer in the
net! Can't wait 'til next year!

This is Elisha, age 7 and brother Joshua, age 5 on a nice day last spring at Camanche Reservoir with their catch of the day. They are frequent visitors to the lake with their grandparents, Darby and Linda. More fish were caught and released that day but they had to keep these two to show Mom and Dad. They both love to fish and are always eager to go.

Deborah, I wanted to send in a photo of my kids and their first salmon.
My sons Jared (7 years old) and Justin (9 years old) caught these 3 nice fish (17# 22# and 24#) offshore in the ocean in the Duxbury area using a blue dodger with a green RSK. After catching this fish we took the boat to the SF Giants game.

Hi Deborah!
Attached is a picture of Zack Scurich with trout caught while trolling at San Justo Reservoir on August 4, 2002. We were dragging 1/2 a nightcrawler at 35 feet and took 7 fish before the wind came up. Largest fish was 1 pound. This was the first time Zack had ever caught a fish and he really enjoyed the trip.
Trolling at San Justo is slower but still productive since planting has stopped.
Thanks,
Boss Johnson

This is a healthy stringer caught at San Pablo Reservoir on July 26. Fish were caught off Sandy Point using Rainbow Powerbait. The fishermen pictured are Gary & Chris (brothers) and Lucas Feil (cousin). This was only the second time fishing for Lucas.
