Steelhead: On 7-6 my buddies and I caught these Sturgi's in the big cut out of Harris Harbor in Pittsburg. A 40 lb and 67 lb. The 67 lb was caught on a Berkeley 4' Graphite with a little Shimano reel.
Attached is a 43 pound Striper I caught on April 12, 2000. The picture was taken
at Freeport Bait by Rajit. I had a friend in Elk Grove deliver the original picture to your office. This fish was the largest striper I have caught in over 30 years of fishing the river. It was 44 inches long with a 26 inch girth. I caught it on a whole sardine filet using a 7' Kunan rod with an Abu Garcia 6500 using 17 pound test maxima line. This fish was caught from the bank after only my second bait. We got other stripers in the 8-12 pound class. Thanks for putting my picture in the sniffer. I have been a subscriber for a longtime and really enjoy your paper. Thanks, Gary Haltom
Richard, here is a photo of South Santiam summer steelhead that clients caught on a
guided trip last week. We were fishing with a jet diver and sand shrimp tail.

Fishing on my favorite local lake...last week 07/19/00..on my way to a limit
trolling deep with my down riggers out by the dam...when i saw my rod
bouncing like crazy in the holder, picked it up & set the hook....you know,
when you feel it - reel it.. Took about a good 12 minutes to get it close to the boat, but when i did, it wouldn't come up. At this time i thought it could be a 10+lb trout or maybe
nice striper, cause it was pulling hard and i couldn't raise it up...finally i did and it made it to the net..went immediately to the marina and had it weighed 2.25lb.....brad rhines, the
mgr there said it was the biggest one he's seen....i'll be back out there next week.. Capt. FishaLot
I was fishing aboard the Buena Vida skippered by John Torres while we were listening to the whole story on the VHF radio about the swordfish battle. We were fishing at a 30 degree heading about 32 miles out, near the dead whale that had been floating there for a few days and had a great trip that included a couple trophy size Dorado( 65 & 56 inches) and my first ever Striped Marlin. This is a picture of Marty & Lisa from San Jose,Ca. taken that day while headed back in after a great day fishing. The day before that, we headed south and did real good on Tuna also. The Fish Sniffer is my favorite mail each month. Bye & Good Fishin, Marty Hale (Cabo Marty)
Rich Sayre of San Jose bagged this 32# Salmon off Farallons on the "Hulie Cat" Sunday, June 25.
Hey, FishSniffer staff, I got a picture for your paper! Went salmon fishing on Sat. 05-13-00 out of Bodega and it was real slow. So by 11:30 being that the water was calm we ran out to Cordell Banks. It was red hot every drop a hook up. On my 3rd spot hooked up in 300' of water with this 30lb. Ling cod, it took about 10-15 min. to get in my boat (Mr. Sluggo.) Biggest ling I've ever caught. It was a great day! Equipment used: Ugly stick Tiger rod/Penn 320 GTI/20lb. Test, 16 oz. Diamond bar. On my boat 22' Starcraft=Mr. Sluggo. Thanks, best regards, Roger Lindsey, Fish Sniffer Subscriber
