Alpers Trout Will Be Planted For Derby
The first installment of the “Size Doesn’t Matter” derby was such a success that the Northern Mono Chamber of Commerce decided to sponsor a “Size Doesn’t Matter the Sequel” derby on September 13, 6am – September 15, 4pm.
Prized Alpers Trout from the Conway ranch with neon orange tags will be placed September 12 in the river , just in time for the Derby.
This is again sponsored by the Northern Mono Chamber of Commerce, businesses in the Antelope Valley, Fishsniffer.com magazine and a new sponsor, Camp Chef. A $10.00 donation gets you 2 entries into the derby that has cash and prizes assigned to each special tagged fish.
Along with the derby the Chamber will be having an Oktoberfest afternoon with brats, polka, and more. This event runs Saturday September 13 from 3pm till dark. All funds donated from the derby and Oktoberfest will benefit the “West Walker River Fish Enhancement Fund.” To sign up for derby, enjoy the Brats and Sauerkraut, polka dancing, and checking fish or tag in, go to the Walker Country Store.
