Anglers Fight Wind For Bass And Sturgeon

Species: Stripers Sturgeon
Location: Sacramento River- Delta, Sacramento River- Middle, San Joaquin Delta,

Excellent fishing continues in the area, with both sturgeon and striped bass available for anglers willing to fight wind.

Trolling and plugging were the recommended tactics for anglers in search of striped bass this week according to Jason Sheppard of Rio Vista Bait and Tackle. Both tactics worked well for those venturing the San Joaquin River.

"Check out the area around Eddo's. The fishing has been good, but really its been the last four weeks. Try and shallow troll or use topwater baits," he said.

Anglers opting to try bait were advised to try on the West Bank. "Sandy Beach is doing real good right now for guys using shad. You can also head up above the bridge or so south to Decker Island," he tipped.

"Guys are still going for sturgeon .They're catching them on shrimp and eel up towards the Ferry on Steamboat, and in Cache and Shag," he related.
