Anglers venturing out in the morning and evenings are picking up some schoolie striped bass in the lower American River.
For example, John Simmons nailed two stripers weighing 5 and 6 pounds while fishing anchovies on the river in the Watt Avenue area, reported Chris Fulster of Broadway Bait Rod and Gun. Another angler, Randy Faucet, landed two striped bass measuring 19 and 20 inches long while soaking sardines at CSUS.
