The Fish Sniffer - Bankies See Trout Action at French Meadows and Sly Park
Bankies See Trout Action at French Meadows and Sly Park

Written By: Garry Erck, February 6, 2014
Species: Trout Mackinaw
Location: Jenkinson Reservoir, French Meadows Reservoir,

Anglers are finding few options up in the American River watershed and Jenkinson Lake.– However, shore anglers are turning the no rain lemons into bankie lemonade.

“Overall the bite is not easy – but some action at Jenkinson is coming from the banks on the backside of the lake,” reported Jay at Sly Park Lake Resort. “Most anglers are using PowerBait off the shore with moderate success; a few trollers have reported a mackinaw or two for their efforts in the Narrows using Kastmasters or swimbaits.”

“Bank action at French Meadows is surprisingly good,” said Mike at Will Fish Bait and Tackle. “Anglers are scoring well on nightcrawlers across the lake – with the only obstacle being mud. Where it has hardened up and anglers get access to the shoreline, they are finding good pan-sized trout for the taking.”
