Location: Lake Oroville,
While few anglers are targeting coho or king salmon in the cold weather at Lake Oroville, bass fishermen tossing out plastics are hooking some salmon in the 2 to 4 pound range.
“The bass anglers using green pumpkin tube baits are reporting catching and releaing lots of salmon, up to 20 fish in the day,” said Bob Boucke of Johnson’s Bait and Tackle. “The fish are hitting at 30 feet deep near the Green Bridge and the North and Middle Forks.”
Not only are fishermen nailing the coho, but a lot of bass also. “Anglers are hooking at lot of 12 to 15 inch slot fish along with some 2 to 3 pounders,” Boucke noted.
The water level at Lake Oroville is 715.70 feet in elevation. The lake is holding 1,378,9391 acre feet of water, 39 percent of full.
