Bass Are Better Bet Than Trout
Anglers hitting the waters of Englebright and Bullards Bar lakes might be well served if they focus on bass for the short term as trout have been a little scarce this past week.
“Bass anglers have been doing pretty good at Bullards Bar,” said Billy at Emerald Cove Marina. “Plastics in tequila sunrise or root beer colors and trout pattern swimbaits would be good go-tos.”
He tipped, “Better fish will be found in deeper water, toss out to deeper water and retrieve towards the bank. Doing this will put bigger fish in your creel. If you are looking for numbers – toss into shallower water; but your fish will be smaller.”
“Bass up to three pounds were pulled in this week at Englebright.” stated Mike Torres at Skippers Cove Marina. “It wasn’t limit style bass action, but enough to keep three anglers busy; the bass were caught mid-lake near the cliffs. Trout action has been meager, with one two pound trout reported in the marina area.”
Bullards Bar is at 56% capacity, while Englebright stands at 94% of capacity.Back To Reports
