Species: Bass Landlocked Salmon
Location: Berryessa Reservoir,

Bass enthusiasts are still battling good numbers of spotted and largemouth bass, along with some smallmouths, at Lake Berryessa.

"My fishing buddy and I caught and released around 15 bass on our latest trip to Berryessa,” said Alan Fong at Fisherman’s Warehouse. “We experienced our best action on buzzbaits, swimbaits and Gliders in shallow water.”

Their top fish was a 5-1/2 lb. largemouth. They targeted the main body past the Ranch House

“The trout, kokanee and king salmon action is sporadic,” said Fong. “Guide Big Al reported 18 fish to 17-1/2 inches on his latest trip to the lake, but the action has slowed down since then.”

Mark Stevens won first place in the CIFFI derby at Berryesa on June 7 by catching two kokanee going 4.16 pounds. He won $500.

Rene Villanueva of Elk Grove boasted big king honors with a 4.87 lb. fish, winning $185. Randy Payne won $215 for catching the biggest trout, a 3.35 lb. rainbow.

The elevation of the spillway (Glory Hole) at Monticello Dam is 440 feet msl. The water is now 26.68 feet below the top of the spillway at 413.32 feet - down another 5 inches since last week. Water temperature is about 75 degrees from the surface down to 10 feet deep.
