Big Kokanee And Kings Excite Derby Anglers
The Eleventh Annual CIFFI Lake Berryessa Family Fun Kokanee Derby was a great success –perfect weather highlighted a great day on the water as anglers saw a wide spectrum of success.
“Big kokanee and monster kings showed up in creels as anglers took advantage of the great fishery at Lake Berryessa,” reported Garry Erck, President of CIFFI.
“Mixed success was seen across the boats – but enough fish came in to keep weigh masters Larry Boswell, Stan Wong and Jason Green busy tallying the fish,” said Erck. “The Department of Fish and Wildlife team, lead, by Kacie Barnes, was there to gather coded wire tags for growth analysis.”
Big King honors went to Tom Hamada, who caught a 4.52 lb. fish that earned him $265. Big Trout honors went to Ron DeRosa, who bagged a 2.41 lb. rainbow that earned him $170.
The Adult Division Winners: were John Eagleton - $500 – 3.7 pounds; Tony Whiteside - $250 – 3.42 pounds; Jason Tidwell - $200 – 3.106 pounds; Mark Stevens - $150 – 3.100 pounds; and Nate Lenard, Sr. - $100 – 3.06 pounds.
The Youth Division Winners were Ashley Cardinale, Sienna Stevens, Wyatt Larsen, Blake Stevens and Caitlin Cardinale.
Cameron Tipton won the “Blind Bogey” category with his 1.05 lb. fish.
