Big Plant Boosts Silver And Caples Rainbow Catches
Recent trout plants dramatically improved angling success at Silver, Caples and Lower Bear River lakes just in time for the Labor Day weekend.
"Duane, from Desert Springs Trout Farm in Summer Lake Oregon, drove in with 1650 lbs of rainbow trout for Caples Lake and 1350 lbs of rainbows for Silver Lake on Wednesday, August 28," said Dave at the Caples Lake Resort. "The fish included 66% catchables and 34% trophy fish between 2 and 3 pounds."
“Scott and Craig from Kirkwood P.U.D met Duane at the E.I.D public launching facility and helped him unload all those nice trout,” Dave noted.
If there is any kind of good news about the smoke, it has started the water cooling off sooner than normal and that has caused the trout bite at Caples Lake to pick up.
Guests Jason Taira and his son Cole caught eight big rainbows while fishing night crawlers. “They were trolling and just drifting in one of our 14 foot fishing boats about 20 feet deep,”said Dave.
“According to the spare the air website (http://www.sparetheair.com) our air quality is moderate, and with the light wind blowing and the fire getting closer to containment should only improve over the next few days,” he noted.
"Fishing is phenomenal," said Meredith Cissner of the Bear River Lake Resort on Sunday, September 2.. "I'm seeing a lot of kids walk by with stringers of rainbow and German brown trout."
"Uncle Dean landed a rainbow weighing 3-1/2pounds and Dillon caught four rainbows totalling 4 pounds," said Cissner. "Like other successful anglers, they shore fished with Berkley Power Bait and worms."Back To Reports
