“The fishing at Lake Almanor has been fantastic recently,” reported Bryan Roccucci of Big Daddy’s Guide Service. “We are catching equal numbers of rainbows, browns and kings and they are mostly big husky fish over the 3 pound mark.”
“We are working both the eastern and northwestern sides of the lake as well as the flats up near Chester. In the Chester area pull Speedy Shiners and other spoons in water that ranges from 15 to 25 feet deep. In the other areas dodger/worm and dodger/Gulp! Minnow combinations are paying off when trolled from 35 to 45 feet deep,” tipped Roccucci.
Cliff Spediacci of Hook & Ladder Guide Service has also been enjoying success while fishing at Lake Almanor. His most recent adventure yielded a 5.5 pound brown and a rainbow over 4 pounds. Spediacci has been targeting his fish with threaded crawlers and Sep’s Trolling Flies teamed with Sep’s dodgers.
Bucks Lake is the scene of a wide-open kokanee bite with fish averaging 12 to 14 inches.
“We’ve been getting triple and quadruple hookups at Bucks Lake,” said Roccucci. “We are getting the fish on 4 inch Pro Troll UV flashers teamed with Tropical Tiger Uncle Larry’s Spinners or a pink hoochie.”
