Catfish And Bass Fishing Sizzles
Anglers are finding “fabulous” fishing for both catfish and bass at Clear Lake this summer, disclosed Bob Higgins of Limit Out Bait and Tackle.
“The catfish can be found throughout the lake from top to bottom,” said Higgins. “Some of the better spots include Rodman Slough, Redbud, Clarks Island and Shag Rock.”
The fish average 8 to 12 pounds, with fish up to 20 pounds reported. Shore anglers and boaters are experiencing the top fishing while using cut baits including mackerel and sardines. Evenings are the best, but fish can be hooked all day long.
“Bass fishing is wide open,” said Higgins. “Fishermen are using frogs and poppers early and late in the day. They’re also punching jigs and throwing spinnerbaits in water up to 20 feet deep. A typical five fish limit will go 22 to 25 pounds.”
On the latest evening “shoot out,” the top three fish weighed 8, 7 and 7 pounds, according to Higgins.
Bluegill and crappie catches are very scarce now.Back To Reports
