Location: Contra Loma Reservoir,
The trout fishing has slowed down with the warm weather at Contra Loma Reservoir, reported Pete Alexander of the East Bay Regional Park District.
For best success on rainbows, Alexander recommended tossing out biting on PowerBaits or nightcrawlers at Channel Point or the East Side. Using spinners, spoons and Kastmasters in the cove at the north-west side of the lake is also worth a try.
The park district stocked 500 pounds of rainbows in the reservoir the week of June 2.
Want channel catfish? “Try fishing nightcrawlers, anchovies, shrimp, or chicken liver at Channel Point or near the Swim Lagoon,” said Alexander.
Black bass have been biting on artificial baits/lures or nightcrawlers anywhere around the lake. Crappie or bluegill have been biting on jigs or worms at Loma Island or Channel Point area.
