Anglers have been catching good numbers of rainbow trout as weekly plants continue at Shadow Cliffs Reservoir.

Big fish honors go to Jack Antrim, who landed a 10 lb trout while trolling with Rainbow Runners on a 4 lb test line, and Frank Yanagihara, who landed an 8.5 lb rainbow while fishing rainbow Power Bait near the Boat launch area.

Briain Jones landed a 7.5 lb. trout while soaking rainbow Power Bait on the Stanley shoreline, reported Pete Alexander of the East Bay Park District. Bill Seniff bagged a 6.6 lb. trout and two others while using nightcrawlers and Power Bait. The Trout Pirate (Richard) landed a 7 lb. rainbow while trolling with a Rainbow Runner.

On one day, a local fisherman reported, “Out of about 50 fishermrn, 9 trout and 1 catfish have been caught near the boat ramp area, as of 11am. Things have slowed, perhaps because of the weather changes.”

The park district stocked 500 pounds of trout and the DFW planted 1000 pounds the week of January 6, while the district planted another 500 pounds of rainbows the week of January 13.
