Fall Salmon Challenge Fishermen
After a couple of good weeks of salmon fishing, the action has slowed down in the Sacramento area.
However, that didn’t stop one fisherman from bagging a 30 lb. king in the Sacramento near the Alamar Marina on Wednesday, October 9. He was using a Kwikfish with sardine wrapper, reported Mel Gillette at Elkhorn Outdoor Sports.
“The fishing is better down at Freeport and Clarksburg – it’s slower in the Verona area now,” he said. “Tim Boggs and I went out of Verona Friday and didn’t have a bite. We only saw one boat caught by the fleet.”
“The jigging for salmon in the Sacramento River in the downtown area has slowed down,” confirmed Allen Fong at Fisherman’s Warehouse. “I haven’t been out salmon fishing lately, since the bass fishing has been so good. I ended up with a 29 lb. limit while fishing top water lures on a recent trip to Snodgrass Slough and the Mokelumne River. The top fish was an 11 lb. largemouth.”
“Anglers are getting some salmon while jigging and trolling at Miller Park and Discovery,” said Jimmy Perez at Broadway Bait Rod & Gun in Sacramento. “Anglers are hooking stripers 20 to 24 inches while using jumbo minnows and mudsuckers in the Port of Sacramento and Sacramento Deepwater Channel.”Back To Reports
