Feb 11, 2013 Target Calero Bass With Jigs, Drop Shot Rigs

Written By: Roland Aspiras, February 11, 2013
Species:
Location: Calero Reservoir, Anderson Reservoir, Chesbro Reservoir, Uvas Reservoir, Coyote Lake,

(Coyote) Though warmer temperatures have hit the Bay Area, finesse applications still apply for anglers chasing bass in the Silicon Valley.

Jigs and drop shot rigs were the mainstay in the last week for anglers, according to Denise Bradford of Coyote Bait and Tackle.

"Calero has been fishing ok for guys tossing jigs and drop shot rigs. Try fishing off the main body points in the 20-25 foot range," she tipped. "At Anderson, the same baits are working, but you can try running a crankbait, too."

"Jigs and drop shot rigs are also working well at Chesbro and Coyote, but the bite at Uvas has been non-existent due to the muddy water,” Bradford advised.

While most anglers are focusing their attention on bass, a few have begun scouting Calero for crappie.

"There's been quite a few guys trying minnows and jigs, but it will be a few more weeks until the fish come up shallow," Bradford related.
