(Topaz) Topaz Lake, located astride the California/Nevada border, re-opened to fishing on January 1, 2013. The trout fishing has been good for bank anglers and boaters since the opener, according to the Topaz Lodge. 

Shore anglers have reported catching good numbers of rainbow trout over 2 pounds while fishing PowerBait from the bank. Trolling with nightcrawlers behind dodgers or Rapalas is also productive.

The Topaz Lodge Fishing Derby began on January 1 and runs through April 14, 2013. Anglers entering the derby are eligible to win instant cash, free slot play and $1,000 in cash prizes. In addition, fishing gear will be given away on April 14 at 7 p.m.
