Kids Rule The Reservoir!
“The kids ‘cleaned up’ this week on the fishing,” revealed Kathy Hess at the Collins Lake Resort.
To start off, Jake and Zach Livingston caught a crappie and 2 trout off the marina dock on worms or PowerBait. Then Mason Bartholomew of Millbrae fished by the dam with PowerBait and hooked a 2 lb 4 oz. trout.
Damien Purdy of Sacramento caught his 1ST FISH EVER (a trout) on green PowerBait. Kyle and Ryan of Loomis caught two catfish weighing 5 pounds and 2 pounds, 8 ounces on worms.
“What are the odds of two fishermen hooking the same fish at the same time?” noted Hess. “Mike Wills and Jeff Evans did it not just once but two times while fishing off the dock for trout!”
PowerBait is the main bait for hooking trout from the dock, said Sierra, Cassie, Aidan and Drew from Santa Rosa, who caught three nice rainbows one day and 5 trout to 2 pounds, 9 ounces the next day. Bella McCleary of Live Oak and her friend Ron caught 6 rainbows from the dock on yellow sparkle PowerBait.
“The Zaski men from the Tahoe area found some awesome crappie, all at least 2 pounds, this week,” said Hess. “They fished with live minnows up towards the bridge.”
Clint and Adam of Grass Valley teamed up to hook and net a monster catfish weighing 9 pounds.
“The trollers didn’t do as well as shore fishermen this past week, since for some reason the trout decided to come up out of their deep water. I recommend bottom fishing with PowerBait instead of trolling if you aren’t catching them in the 25′ to 30′ range,” she advised.Back To Reports
