The Fish Sniffer - Kokanee Are Hitting In Shallow Water
Kokanee Are Hitting In Shallow Water

Species: Kokanee Trout
Location: Bullards Bar Reservoir, Englebright Reservoir,

Harbingers of spring are many, but for some anglers it’s when kokanee begin to show in creels. Right now Bullards kokes are not big, but they will provide a day of action for anglers chasing these silver bullets.

Ed Fisk from Fish Tales Guide Service reports solid action on kokanee.  “These guys arent big,” said Ed. “But easy limits on anything pink. We pulled watermelon dodgers and pink spinners, pink bugs or pink hoochies and we caught a ton of them. We worked from the surface down to forty feet deep in the Garden Point area.”

“Englebright anglers are pulling out trout up to eighteen inches,” reported Lisa Rogers at Skipper’s Cove Marina. “Nightcrawlers and flashers seem to be the best bet. Most fish are being caught in the main body or upriver, we have seen little action in the marina area.”

Bullards Bar is at 65% capacity, while Englebright stands at 96% of capacity.
