Bank fishermrn and trollers were rewarded with good fishing after these last few storms and fishing should only continue into the spring months.
Craig Andri of Roseville fished Berryessa this past week targeting catfish most the day and was rewarded with 7 catfish to 6 pounds. "The catfish action was amazing after that big first rain, fish are still being caught but the numbers aren't what they were earlier this month" exclaimed Andri.
"Trout action on the lake has started to put out some decent fish. After fishing for cats most of the day, I moved over to big island and drifted some live minnow for some trout. I intsantly hooked up with a nice fish that measured a little over 17 inches. We continued drifting minnows for about 2 hours and picked up an additional 3 fish to around 15 inches. The key was getting the minnows to the correct depth which was around 15 feet for us using a sliding bobber and bobber stop," reported Andri.
Crappie, spotted, largemouth and smallmouth bass fishing will improve as the water temperature warm up and fish move into the pre-spawn mode. Recent reports stated bass are hitting the best now on small plastics on drop shot rigs in 20-50 feet of water.
The water level has remained at 414.96 feet or 23.64 feet below the Glory Hole Spillway. The lake level should continue to rise with recent rainfall.
