If you want to hook monster trout in the Mother Lode, it’s hard to beat fishing at Lake Amador now.
Big fish honors go to George Mendoza of Sacramento, who landed a 16.24 lb. trout while trolling with a J-7 firetiger Rapala, reported Debbie Grayson at the Lake Amador Resort. Ten-year-old Raylynne Grisssom, bagged a 14.78 lb. trout while trolling with a firetiger Rapala on her first-ever fishing trip.
Trevor Cooper of Rocklin bagged a 7.58 lb. trout while trolling in Cat Cove and Shammy of Stockton nailed a 7.12 lb. trout on a Kastmaster.
“We’re stocking 400 pounds of trout per day and fishing continues to be good,” said Grayson. Shore anglers and boaters are doing best fishing in the top 3 feet of water with Rapalas, Kastmasters and Power Bait.
While few anglers are targeting bass, Joseph Subia of Vallejo landed a 5-1/2 lb. largemouth bass while fishing a diving Rapala off N Point.
The boat ramp is in operation and the water level is 60 feet from maximum pool.
