Mother Lode Roundup

Species: Trout Landlocked Salmon Kokanee
Location: McClure Reservoir, McSwain Reservoir,

Lake McClure is yielding good catches of rainbow trout, kokanee salmon and king salmon.

Terri Mello at A-1 Bait and Tackle said, “Trout are pounding trolled offerings across the lake – set your downriggers at thirty feet and be prepared for some action. Dodgers with pink or green hoochies and flasher/crawlers combos have been doing well for the trout. Kokanee are showing up down to ninety feet deep at dam and kings have been picked up at eight-five feet deep in the McClure point area.”

“McSwain anglers are seeing pretty good action off the bank as well as trolling,” reported Denise at Lake McSwain Marina. “Better action has been off the bank in the Handicap Dock and Brushpile areas with Chartreuse PowerBait, scented with garlic. Trollers have been working the dam area with flasher/crawler combos for their fish.”

Lake McClure stands at 29% of capacity.
