(Yuba City) Salmon fishing on the Sacramento River from Knights Landing to Chico has tapered off, with the best action reported still in the Ord Bend to Hamilton City stretch.
“Fishing is slow in the Colusa area,” reported Doug Austin at Kittle’s Sport and Tackle. “However, one boat reported catching four fish in the 15 to 18 pound range at Ord Bend while back bouncing roe on September 27.
Boaters anchored up with spinners are still bagging some chinøøks in the Ward’s landing area, noted Austin.
Many guides that were fishing the Sacramento River above Ord Bend are now fishing in the Sacramento area or Feather River.
“It was an interesting day on the Sacramento River,” reported Scott Feist on a recent trip in the Hamilton City area before heading home to the Feather River. “We were around lots of salmon but they didn't want to bite all that well. I think it had something to do with the large low pressure in the valley today. We landed five, missing a few other opportunities.”
