Location: Folsom Lake,
Fished Folsom Lake 4 times this week and was happy with the results. Fishing is not as good as it was back in January when we were fishing in a small aquarium but cannot complain with the quality of fish. Pretty much all week, the fish bit in the same pattern. Early in the morning, 90% of fish caught on the downriggers, then after 9am, it was all top lined baits. Totally opposite on what I was expecting!!!! But I'm not going to complain because we put fish in the boat. Fish have been a mixture of Trout and Kings, and even some Bass in the mix.
My lures and presentation
Downriggers set at 10' and 20' using nickle/blue Speedy Shiners and pearl/gold bikini Needlefish fished naked without dodgers at 3mph GPS speed 100' behind the ball.
Toplined sets are small jointed Rapalas in silver/black and silver/blue fished 200-250 feet back.
Have caught all our fish around the windsock.
Kings have all been caught on downrigger rods from both Speedy Shiners and Needlefish. Have caught the bass on both Rapalas and Needlefish.
Would like to get out to Berryessa and New Melones any day now but from the reports I have been hearing, I have been doing better at Folsom. Plus its only 10 mins.Back To Reports
