Rainbows Offer Top Trolling Sport
Rainbow trout offer the most consistent fishing at Folsom Lake, though some large kings are also being taken. Fishing pressure has been light, now that salmon season is open on the Sacramento, American and Feather rivers.
“No wind meant a trip to the dam to see what was going on down there,” said Jerry Lampkin of TNG Motor Sports Guide Service on his latest trip on Folsom Lake. “The three fishermen with me landed 10 rainbows to 17 inches.”
They experienced the top action while trolling with the GVF Pina Colada lures behind Shasta Tackle white glow Sling Blades at 50-plus feet. The surface water temperature was 80 degrees.
“The kings took the day off for us,” said Lampkin. “However, Big John Enos of Big John’s Guide Service scored a nice 6 pound king.”
Folsom Lake is holding 596,724 acre feet of water, 61 percent of capacity and 77 percent of average. The lake level is 428.09 feet in elevation, 37.91 feet from full.Back To Reports
