There are stripers, halibut and salmon available for East Bay charter boat anglers, but the action for these species has been up and down. The most consistent bite is coming from rockfish and lingcod.

Captain James Smith of California Dawn Sportfishing has been working inside the bay for stripers and the occasional halibut. Outside the Golden Gate he’s been putting his clients on consistent limits of quality rockfish and he’s had limits and near limits of lingcod as well.

Captain Joey Gallia of New Easy Rider Sportfishing has been nailing limits of rockfish and lingcod with lingcod running up to 25 pounds. Joey has also been able to find salmon occasionally. For example on Saturday in addition to rockfish limits and some good lings, the anglers aboard the New Easy Rider landed 4 kings to 14 pounds.

Captain Chris Smith of Captain Hook Sportfishing also reported outstanding rockfish and lingcod action on his most recent trip outside the Golden Gate. Smith’s most recent potluck trip inside the bay produced a mix of halibut and stripers.

In Emeryville, limits of rockfish and near limits of lings have been the rule. For example on the New Huck Finn’s  most recent adventure yielded 31 limits of rockfish and 54 lingcod.
