The salmon bite along the Sonoma County Coast broke wide-open on the weekend of May 3-4 with private and charter boats both taking limits of big chinooks.
The Working Girl, skippered by Tim Wong, returned with 3 limits of Chinooks from 8 to 18-1/2 pounds on Monday, May 5. The crew also took home one fish.
“We fished off Bodega Head over 320 feet of water,” said Wong. “We trolled with herring at 40 to 60 feet deep. On our previous trips, we trolled with hoochies behind Purple Haze Herring Dodgers.”
The kings are feeding on big concentrations of krill. Private boaters also reported hooking limits of hard-fighting kings.
The rockfish season from Point Arena to Pigeon Point to will open on June 1 and fishing should be great for both lingcod and rockfish.
If you’re itching to explore Bodega waters for salmon and more, Captain Tim Wong of Norcal Sportfishing Adventures is the man to call. Tim specializes in targeting kings, lings, rockfish, halibut, albacore and crabs from his six pack vessel The Working Girl. Tim can be reached at (707) 228-8322 or visit him on line at http://www.norcalsportfishadventures.com.
