(Isleton) Anglers on the troll are keeping busy with fresh, hard fighting salmon on the Old Sacramento River, with striped bass also available in the area providing action.
30 to 40 fish per day have been reported by the fleet of angelrs each day since Thursday, September 6, according the Sylvia Vieira at Vieira's Resort.
"Red or green silvertrons are doing really for everyone out here, but they're also using #6 blade bluefox spinners in the same colors," she tipped.
Amber Gomes of Hap's Bait and Tackle in Rio Vista also related to the excellent salmon fishing, but didn't stop short to mention the increase in striped bass hitting the region.
"They're starting to show up pretty good from Sherman Island to Decker Island," she said.
Gomes recommends sardines, anchovies and shad for the linesiders, but also recommended trolling as a good tactic. "A lot of the guys are trolling from Sherman Island up to the bridge, and a few are being caught as far up as Walnut Grove."
When asked about sturgeon, Gomes reported very few anglers have gone out for them lately but was optimistic about the action for the upcoming weeks.
