In what may be the last trout plant at Sly Park Lake for 2014, the lake received 3500 pounds of trout and limits obviously got quite easy.
“Nine year old Ryan Simms pulled out a quick limit of trout,” reported Sara at Sly Park Lake Resort. “Another angler caught and released seventy fish, yes seventy – as he was there at the same time as the plant. Trout action will be solid for the next few weeks – bank action with PowerBait will be the best bet. Mack action is still up for grabs for trollers working the narrows.”
“What a different two weeks make,” said Dale Daneman of Dale’s Foothill Fishing. “Action at Ice House has moved into ‘easy-limitsville’; with pan-sized trout offering a fun day on the water. Typical setups like a Sep’s grub or nightcrawlers behind a Sidekick dodger will do the trick.”
“Union Valley access is still difficult, but the mackinaw are still biting,” reported Ken Mathis at Ken’s Custom Tackle. “We continue to target water 75-80 feet deep and look for transition zones from sandy shoals to rocky structure. Dodger/herring combos continue to be the best bet for good size macks. No kokanee to report.”
Loon Lake stands at 62%, Union Valley is at 76% capacity, and Ice House is at 90%.
