The Fish Sniffer - Steelhead Fishing Is Great
Steelhead Fishing Is Great

Written By: Danny Lloyd, February 6, 2014
Species: Trout Steelhead
Location: Umpqua River,

If you want to hook big winter steelhead, it’s hard to beat the Umpqua River now.

““We have water,” said Todd Harrington, Fishing Director of the Big K Guest Ranch. “Steelhead fishing on the Umpqua has been outstanding of late, we finally got a little rain and it raised the rivers enough to move fish.”

“We have been averaging double digit days ever since, however those numbers may drop until we get more rain,” said Harrington. “The Con Ag group from Loveland Ca. fished 11 guys out of the Big K this week for 2 days and landed 101 steelhead and lost many near the boat. Big fish of the trip was just a hair over 20#, taken by Guide Zach Hancock's boat!”
