Anglers are experiencing great local action on striped bass, while those looking for sturgeon head towards the bay in search of numbers.
Bait fishing continues to be the hot ticket on striped bass for anglers fishing around Sherman Island, where many five and six pound fish are being landed, according to Karen Tate at Rio Vista Bait and Tackle. "Light 37, and Collinsville seems to be good areas too," she added.
"Trolling hasn’t been very good on the Sacramento side, but they're doing pretty good on the San Joaquin side," she tipped.
Anglers in search of sturgeon were being sent to Suisun Bay, where fishing around the Mothball Fleet has been superb. However, action locally around Rio Vista was slow.
"Cache Slough has been slow this year. Usually the fishing is good, but maybe we need more rain," Tate related.
