Striper Limits Are The Rule And Sturgeon Are On Tap Too!

Location: Sacramento River- Delta, San Joaquin Delta, Suisun Bay, Sacramento River- Middle,

The West Delta is the scene of red hot action these days with both striped bass and sturgeon cooperating with anglers. The best bass action is taking place in the Rio Vista area, while sturgeon are hitting in the lower part of the Sacramento River and throughout Suisun Bay.

Captain David Hammond of Delta Pro Fishing reported very good action on both stripers and sturgeon. His clients have been bagging limits of stripers to 10 pounds while trolling in the Rio Vista area.

During his most recent sturgeon adventure in Suisun Bay resulted in three keeper size diamond backs. The baits of choice were salmon roe and eel.

Captain Jay Lopes of Right Hook Sportfishing related that striper trolling is outstanding right now, but added that he is nearly done trolling for the year.

“The Delta bite is great, but I’m headed to the bay to chase halibut,” said Lopes.

Like Lopes and Hammond, Captain Brad Bugica of SalmonStriper.Com and Captain Rick Kennedy of Tight Lines Guide Service have also been putting their clients on consistent limits of stripers while trolling both the Sacramento and San Joaquin sides of the Delta.
