Sturgeon Anglers Hoping For Rain

Sturgeon fishing on the Sacramento River from Knights Landing to above Colusa got off to tough start this New Year, due to lack of rain.

“The fishing is slow,” said Rob Reimers of Rustic Rob’s Guide Service. “There are a few sturgeon showing in scattered locations. If you’re lucky enough, you might get one. One good rain would muddy the river and prod the fish to move up river.”

“A few sturgeon are showing in the Knights Landing area,” confirmed Bob Boucke at Johnson’s Bait and Tackle. “Bank anglers and boaters are using salmon roe, ghost shrimp, pileworms and eel to entice the fish.”

Big fish honors go to Roy Ventress who landed a 58 inch sturgeon during a recent fishing trip.
