Species: Sturgeon
Location: Sacramento River- Middle,

Sturgeon fishing is going strong on the Sacramento River from Tisdale to Verona, a result of increased flows from recent storms.

“Fishing is really good in the Tisdale and Knights Landing areas,” reported Bob Boucke at Johnson’s Bait and Tackle. “The river has been going up and down. It has been going up 10 feet, dropping 10 feet, then going up 10 feet after another storm.”

Roy Van Tassel reported catching a 52 inch sturgeon and releasing an oversized fish on his latest fishing adventure in the Tisdale area. Joe Dannah and his fishing partners reported catching a 55 incher and releasing one oversized fish and losing two others in the Tisdale area also. “They were using ghost shrimp/nightcrawler combos,” said Boucke.

Rob Reimers of Rustic Rob’s Guide Service and I caught and released two oversized sturgeon, including one measuring 67 inches fork length and another over 7 feet, while fishing nightcrawler/ghost shrimp combos below Tisdale on the evening of Thursday, March 6.
