Take Your Pick Of Salmon Or Bottomfish

(San Francisco) Chinook salmon fishing off the Marin County Coast has improved while live bait anglers continue to haul in big catches of rockfish and lingcod.

A half-day trip aboard the Bass Tub on Saturday, August 9 produced 9 salmon to 30 pounds for 21 anglers. “The boat left at 10 am and tied up at the dock at 3 pm,” said Captain Erik Anfinson. “The anglers trolled with anchovies at 30 to 40 feet deep off Duxbury Reef.”

On the latest two bottomfish adventures, the anglers aboard the Bass Tub scored limits of brown, blue and black rockfish and near-limits of lingcod in the 8 to 10 pound range. The anglers fished with live anchovies at Duxbury Reef and other spots along the Marin Coast.

The Bass Tub will be booking albacore tuna trips when the fish appear in the offshore waters. “We’re waiting for the water to turn blue,” said Anfinson. “We have the temperature breaks, but not the water color yet.”

Anglers fishing aboard Morning Star, skippered by Gordon Hough, continue to experience solid live bait “potluck” fishing for halibut, striped bass, rockfish and lingcod in San Francisco Bay and outside of the Golden Gate.
