Thursday Aint so Bad
I promised Jeremy (Jfitalia) some time ago I'd take him plugging for striper so we set a day & time & set out to get him his 1st plugged Tuxedo Fish....I had a spare seat open & threw out an invite to Bill (BeldenBill) & w/o hesitation, accepted.
I towed the boat to work w/ me Wednesday night & after pulling a 10 hour all nighter OT detail I set out to meet Jeremy @ the Flying J in Flag City @ 0600 sharp. He tossed his crap in the boat & we headed off to Eddos where Bill would be awaiting our arrival.
Splashed the boat @ 0645 to a calm, clear, cool & beautiful Fall morning. We set off west out of Eddos only to be immediately greeted by a sexy little bubbling pump. Killed the motor, turned on the Willie & Waylon, and slid in all stealth like. I was tossing an 8" Punker, Jeremy a Bone Super Spook & Ol' Bill went to cheating right off the bat w/ and LV500....We worked the pump for a bit & watched a fish swirl & miss Jeremy's Spook....a few moments later Bill hooked up and gave the Ol' SKUNK a "Good Mornin" kick in the nuts to get our day started.
That would be it for us on that pump & off we went. We were fishing an incoming tide till 0850....Neither tides today were very substantial, in fact they were pretty lazy tide...Oh well, beat sitting at home on the couch. We worked a few different areas for nothing.....We hit Steve's Ghetto Spot for the last of the incoming for nothing but before leaving I did some substantial landscaping for him.....Should be really good next time with some nice big lanes, your welcome.
As the tide slackened we used that time to do our long runs up into the Suisun area. Found ourselves some more pumps that needed our attention & back to work we went. Slow, dang tide was taking its sweet time getting going so we ended up sticking the pick in the mud & chilling w/ a couple of tasty cold malt beverages accompanied by some tasty snacks & long winded BS'ing. Finally the tide gets going again (but not by much) & we proceed to start beating down on the pumps......Finally, I bag my 1st fish of the day.
I think we picked off a couple of other non-picture worthy fish off this pump before the action dies off. So we move on a little further down the stream & pick off a couple more before the bite dies
Its starting to get later in the day & we decide to start working/fishing our way back towards the ramp. Bill suggests a quick stop in on of his Uber secret spots & immediately we start sticking fish.
Bite dies off & we move on back down the San Jo....make a quick stop @ one of my spots & I stick a nice fish on the Craw LV500
That would be it for the rest of the day....we hit a couple of other spots on the way in that are usually productive but I think the fish didn't want to play anymore. Boat trailered right @ 2 pm.
Lazy tides all day....not much of a swing & not much for movement
Water temp....62.3 degrees most everywhere we went
Early morning overcast till about 0930 then bright sunshine, a very subtle breeze, just enough to put a sexy little ripple on the water.
Tossed a plethora of tasty striper vittles but the LV500 ruled the day
Fished the Suisun area along with the west end of the San Jo
Awesome weather, awesome company & decent fishing.....Thnx again fellas for joining in on the adventure. I continue to impatiently wait for the wide open fall striper bite....
