(San Francisco) If you want to hook big, hard-fighting Chinooks outside of the Golden Gate, now is a good time to do it.
The 20 passengers fishing aboard the Bass Tub on Saturday, August 23 bagged 10 salmon to 22 pounds. They trolled with anchovies at 40 feet deep in the Duxbury Reef area. “The salmon averaged 15 pounds each,” said Captain Erik Anfinson.
On the most recent bottomfish adventure, the 17 anglers aboard the Bass Tub landed limits of rockfish, one cabezon and 12 lingcod to 15 pounds while fishing shrimp flies and live bait off Point Reyes. They also bagged a salmon while mooching with anchovies.
Gordon Hough, Captain of the Morning Star, has been catching rockfish and lingcod on live bait drifting adventures, along with striped bass and halibut, out of the Loch Lomond Marina in San Rafael.
