Trollers are bagging a mixture of stripers and halibut in San Francisco Bay as the beginning of the live bait season nears.

A trolling adventure by the Bass Tub on Saturday, March 22 yielded 3 striped bass ranging from 8 to 10 pounds and one halibut for 15 anglers.

"Anglers caught all of the fish on trolled anchovies in the Berkeley Flats in around 30 feet of water," said Erik Anfinson, Captain of the Bass Tub. "Live anchovies should become available out of Fisherman's Wharf the first of April."

Captain Mike Rescino of the Lovely Martha ended up with 5 keeper halibut to 12 pounds for a 3 man charter on Sunday, March 23. They trolled anchovies in the bay.

Besides live bait season, Anfinson, Rescino and other skippers out of the wharf are gearing up for the opening of recreational salmon fishing season on Saturday, April 5.
