Salmon fishing was very slow on the opening day of salmon season, prompting some Bay Area boats to go north of Point Reyes on Sunday, April 6.
The Bass Tub out of Fisherman’s Wharf, skippered by Captain Aaron Anfinson, reported 3 kings for 10 people on April 5 and 0 fish on Sunday. The salmon averaged 12 pounds each, according to Captain Aaron Anfinson.
The anglers trolled the N Buoy area from 35 to 150 feet. The weather was windy, though fishable.
Fishing was great in Monterey Bay, with limits and near-limits of big kings reported, and these fish will be moving up the coast towards the Golden Gate as the season proceeds.
“The halibut fishing has picked up inside San Francisco Bay and we will be fishing the bay over the coming weeks,” said Anfinson.
