The rainbow trout and king salmon bite continues to be superb for trollers fishing at Folsom Lake.
For example, James Netztel of Fishin’ James Guide Service had a great day of salmon fishing at Folsom on Friday, June 13.
Steve Bennett, Ralph Clark and Ron Hayes caught a total of 15 fish, including 7 beautiful king salmon to 3-1/2 pounds and 8 rainbows to 19 inches, while trolling Speedy Shiners at 30 to 35 feet deep in the South Fork with Netzel.
“Fishing for the past two months has been phenomenal,” Netzel stated. “I’ve only been only skunked once.”
Don Paganelli of Paganelli’s Bass Fishing Experience and a client caught and released 13 fish, including smallmouth, spotted and largemouth bass, on a trip to to Folsom on Saturday, June 14.
“We caught the first two fish on top water lures first thing in the morning and then hooked the rest of the bass while using drop shot rigs, Carolina rigs, spoons and Senkos during the day from 10 to 20 feet deep,” said Paganelli. “The fish were feeding heavily on pond smelt – every fish spit up smelt.”
Folsom Lake is holding 515,956 acre feet of water, 53 percent of capacity and 63 percent of the 10-year-average. The lake level is 418.52 feet about sea level, 47.48 from maximum pool.
