Trollers Nail Salmon And Stripers
Salmon and striped bass are in the mix for anglers as fall fishing gets underway, while others wait for sturgeon to spark up.
Anglers trolling Silvertron spinners in red and green were having good success on kings, according to Karen Tate of Rio Vista Bait and Tackle. "A lot of the guys are working the mouth up to Vierras in Isleton," she tipped.
Other anglers focused on a good striped bass bite in the area. "I caught a 30 inch striper at nine pounds the other day trolling the San Joaquin. A lot of the guys are out fishing from the mouths of the Mokelumne and Three Mile Slough,” said Tate. Deep diving Yo-zuris were Tate's choice to troll for the bass.
While sturgeon fishing remains slow, the pro staff at Fisherman's Warehouse in Sacramento were eager for the fall bite to take off.
"Look for a bite to start the middle of next month in Suisun Bay and Rio Vista, but you probably can pick a few fish off now," said Craig Kamikawa, assistant manager.Back To Reports
