Trollers Pick Up Stripers On West Bank

Species: Stripers
Location: Sacramento River- Delta, Sacramento River- Middle,

(Rio Vista) Striped bass have begun to pipe into the Delta, where anglers on the plug and troll are scoring in between periods of wind.

Trolling with deep diving plugs worked well this past week for anglers working the West Bank of the Sacramento River according to Alan Fong, manager at Fisherman's Warehouse in Sacramento.

"Most of the fish are schoolie sized, but Mark Wilson caught one over 20 pounds just recently," he said.

Anglers in search of a plugging bite were limited to fishing the San Joaquin side due to wind, where spotty action was had, according to pro staffer Tom Amberson at Delta Wood Bombers.

"About a week ago we had 120 fish between myself, Carlo Ramos and his daughter. A lot of them were short, between 17 and 18 inches."

Amberson and Co. fooled the schoolies on five and six inch Sinnister baits from Delta Wood Bombers.
