Rainbow trout are still being caught in large numbers as planting continues at Rancho Seco Reservoir.
The lake management at press time was getting ready for the Rancho Seco Trout Derby set for Saturday and Sunday, March 29 and 30. For more information, call 209-748-2318.
“We’re seeing beautiful weather and great fishing,” revealed Ron Calvert at the Rocky Mountain Recreation Company. “The lake is full.”
Jackie Lee of Sacramento landed three rainbows up to 2.5 pounds while tossing out PowerBait across from the office. Davie Baker bagged a 1.5 lb. trout while soaking PowerBait across from the office.
“The largemouth bass have become aggressive as they move onto their beds,” said Calvert. “John Westen landed 2 bass to 4 pounds while fishing a Senko in the cove by the boathouse.”
