Trout Are Holding In Pocket Water
If you want to hook trout on the East Walker River in the low, clear water conditions, fish the pocket water.
That was the advice from local angler Sam Foster, who said anglers who locate the fish are catching limits in the 9 to 12 inch range, along with an occasional 3 to 3-1/2 pounder. Fishing is good from the Sonora Pass Bridge to the town of Walker.
“Most fish are hitting nightcrawlers, salmon eggs, Power Eggs and other baits, but yellow/gold Panther Martines and other spinners are also working,” he disclosed.
Fishing at Topaz Lake closed on September 30. Fishing for trout was tough in the final weeks of the season. The lake will reopen to a large crowd of fishing enthusiasts on January 1, 2014.
