The Fish Sniffer - Trout Bite As Season Ends
Trout Bite As Season Ends

Species: Trout
Location: Eagle Lake,

Trout fishing at Eagle Lake is now in the final stretch as the December 31 closer looms. While there is a good amount of ice in the north basin, the southern basin is still open and the trout are still biting.

“I can’t launch my boat at Eagle Lake anymore this season because they’ve pulled the dock out of the water,” related Bryan Roccucci of Big Daddy’s Guide Service. “The trout bite is still going strong. Fly guys are hooking big numbers of fish while working from the bank in the south basin. You’ll want to look for the trout in shallow water less than 4 feet deep. Once you find them, they’ll take a variety of buggers and leach imitations.”

“I’m done for the year,” related Cliff Speediacci of Hook & Ladder Guide Service. “I’m going to be headed down to the Sacramento area for the Sacramento ISE Show. If anybody wants to say hello and talk trout fishing they’ll be able to find me in the Gone Fishin’ Marine booth.”
